🧡 Walking the Path Together: Honouring Truth and Reconciliation in Brantford

PUBLISHED IN SEPTEMBER 2025

At North West Rubber, our commitment to our community extends beyond our products. We believe in building a foundation of understanding, respect, and reconciliation right where we operate.

That's why we are incredibly proud that employees from our Brantford facility took the initiative to participate in local events surrounding National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day this past September.

This important day is a time to honour the Survivors of residential schools, remember the children who never returned home, and reflect on the ongoing work of reconciliation. Our team members joined the Brantford community in stepping forward to listen, learn, and engage.

Commitment in Action

  • Learning Locally: The Brantford area is the location of the former Mohawk Institute Residential School (now the Woodland Cultural Centre), a deeply significant site for the history of residential schools. By engaging with local events, our team was able to gain a more personal and profound understanding of the history and the ongoing impact of this legacy.

  • Wearing Orange: Our employees proudly wore orange shirts to show solidarity and a collective commitment to the principle that Every Child Matters.

  • Building Understanding: Participation in these events fosters a more informed and compassionate workplace and encourages the vital conversation around the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action.

At North West Rubber, we see this as an ongoing journey—one that requires humility, education, and consistent action. We stand with Indigenous communities in Brantford and across Canada on the path to a shared, respectful future.
